Otoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure for the ears, done to correct protruding or large ears and move them inwards to be closer to the head. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision in the back of your ears to expose the ear cartilage. After reshaping, adding, or removing structural ear elements to achieve your desired results, the incision opening is sutured back. Because of the incision position and area, there is usually little or no visible scarring. Otoplasty is also done to correct large earlobes, shell ear or lop ear. Usually requires 1 night in the hospital, or in some cases can be done on an outpatient basis.
